Crawlspaces are very often the source of cold floors and large utility bills. Sealing them off from your home can make a big difference in your comfort and in what you pay every month.
You have 2 choices, depending on how your house is built.
This can be a great way to seal off your living space from the cold. By using 2 inches of Foam it Green closed cell anti-microbial spray foam insulation, you create a seamless air barrier and high r-value that will keep your floors much warmer than before.
Because cold winter air and hot humid summer air no longer seep in through the floor, your energy costs can go way down. On top of that, you're much more comfortable.
Plus the rigid foam creates a pest barrier that helps keep insects and rodents out of your home, along with Radon gas. And because it never sags nor settles, once it's in place, it's done, unlike fiberglass.
And you're much less likely to have mold issues with the anti-microbial formula.
Foam it Green sprays overhead and bonds to nearly every surface. So getting the ceiling done isn't hard.
Some crawls are only 18-24 inches high. The 602 kits are about 18 inches tall, so most often the kits fit underneath. If you have an especially challenging situation, consider using the 30' hose that may make this project a lot easier.
Some prefer to spray foam the walls of the crawlspace. If you have pipes or something else you don't want to encase in spray foam, you can do the walls instead. This is a good alternative if you have a vented floor you want to keep vented, or if you have a finished basement open to your crawlspace.
The walls are typically very straightforward. You want to create a space where the outside air is kept outside, so you're not only adding insulation, you're creating a tight building envelope.
By using 2-3 inches of Foam it Green closed cell anti-microbial spray foam insulation, you create a seamless air barrier. That and the high r-value makes your crawlspace a protected area versus just an area open to the outside.

If the walls are concrete, you may want to seal them before foaming. That helps keep moisture from preventing a tight bond with the wall. Make sure to use a latex based sealant and spray test areas to make sure you get great adhesion.
"So far, so good! The kits arrived today — excellent delivery service.
Went in, re-read instructions, attached hoses, attached nozels — had jar of vasoline and spares handy close by — turns out to be a good thing because the 30 second nozel changing rule is right on!
Gave the 24" roofing timbers and decking installed as part of a 5 roof, cedar shake complete tear off 10 years ago an inital coat. Took about 10 minutes to complete. Went back and did a second coat.
Took a break and had another cool glass of water.
We now have an area of approximately 15 X 10 fully coated with 5 inches of green foam. No more noise from the street. No more heat pouring through the roof!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
The other side will be done tomorrow morning, before the very hot afternoon sun hits it.
Takes a lot less time than I thought it would.
THANK YOU — AGAIN!
If your product had been available when i did the initial re-hab, 20 years ago, I would have opened all the walls, inside and out — all the ceilings, and SEALED THE HELL out of the place.
IT WORKS — and it works WELL!"

"Hi,
Just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know that today I sprayed foam under my bathroom which is above a crawlspace (10x12'). The difference is amazing, to say the least. The floor is now warm, which it never was before. I only put an inch or so just to stop the air flow from outside. The fools before me put 6\" fiberglass under the floor with the vapor barrier facing the cold air...DUH! Anyway, this has been the best $700 bucks I've spent so far on this old house. I actually had enough of the foam left (almost half tanks) to give to one of my friends who just bought a house and needs to do something to stop the cold air flow in the basement. I am totally impressed with the coverage and the results. Thank you very much."

"I purchased your "twin 602's" package with plans to insulate the ceiling in my basement. When the kits arrived, I hooked them up just like the video's show, set up my ladder, put on the suit, and off I went. This looks very easy in the video's so I expected it to be a little bit difficult, but for the first time in my life I found a product that is easier than it looks to use! I work a normal day and decided to just work on a little bit each night after work. You can't imagine my surprise when I finished it in two days only working three hours each night. Six hours to do my basement including the sil plate.
When I did the sill plate I was shocked to see all of the "knot holes" and daylight leaking in, I filled all holes large enough for mice to get in with steel wool for precautionary measures and then shot the Foam it Green directly over. Since I have done this my heating bills have gone down, I have no more spiders, beetles, or mice, and best of all you can hear nothing upstairs or down!
My father even made the comment that I may have a problem not being able to hear what my kids are doing, (with a smile) He couldn't believe it. And now we are planning to do the crawlspace in his home to keep the moisture from getting to his floors and lower the humidity in the windows. I have no doubts this will work for him just like it did for me.
This was the easiest product to use, it comes out the right color, goes on quick, and dries fast. I would emphasize to wear the goggles! Thanks to the folks at Foam-It-Green! Very friendly, super helpfull and an unsurpassed response time! I will be a repeat customer.
Your product lowered my heating bills, blocked out sound transfer from one level to another, and eliminated all the pesky bugs and rodents sneaking into my home. Prior to this I had five registers open to heat my basement, not it only takes one to maintain a comfortable temp. This product met and exceeded all of my expectations!"

"Sirs.
I used Foam it Green to insulate my crawl space last year, and what a difference. We work out of our basement, and I always felt a cold draft across my feet, while sitting at the computer. Wondering where that cold draft was coming from, I Looked into the crawlspace, from the basement, and saw three spots with light showing through and a frost line on the wall. This with the outside of the crawlspace wall covered in one inch thick, foam board.
So after looking at several company's on the internet, I ordered a 202 kit of Foam it Green Foam. It was easy to understand the directions, and went on without any problems. So I broke through to the remaining two crawl spaces and sprayed them also. Also had enough Foam it Green left to spray, all the end joist areas in the basement. They were filled with fiberglass insulation, but did not stop the cold air draft.
Now the basement is cozy. I've also noticed that we can't here a thunderstorm anymore from the basement, we have to be beside the furnace and hear it from the chimney... what a change. I sent a couple of photo's."
